Teaching

At Landshut University of Applied Sciences and its partner universities, students encounter media and culture in very different fields, such as linguistics, business studies with a focus on marketing and cultural management, creative-artistic subjects or the subject of new media and intercultural communication.

We are fundamentally convinced that media cannot be thought of, analysed and shaped without culture and culture cannot be thought of, analysed and shaped without media, and we also convey this in our teaching.

Guest speakers

Over the past few semesters, we have welcomed some fantastic guests, including internationally renowned artists, journalists and professors. A few highlights:

Jamaican graphic artist Kianna Patrice talked about her sources of inspiration and about marketing her art.

Intercultural communication expert Ridha Mejri offered insights into business practices in the Arab world, including best practice examples.

The pedagogue Philipp Weidner reported on his methods to inspire and sensitise young people for media.

Nigerian professor and artist Nnanna Ndubuisi used many visual examples to explain the principles of West African aesthetics.

Chinese artist and psychotherapist Yun Chang led a pinhole camera workshop in which participants built their own cameras and explored not only the artistic aspects of this form of photography but also the therapeutic aspects of the medium.

Ni Dawei explored the culture of sign language and helped participants gain insights into a whole new world.

The lecture by Turkish professor Nur Emine Koc spanned philosophers from Aristotle to Baudrillard to McLuhan and offered an excursion into Turkish media aesthetics.
